FAQ's

Dreamweaver TemplatesBasic Template Questions:

What if my website is not named "Your Name Here"?

No problem, we will put your name on the logo/banner without charge within 30 days from the date of purchase. Please send us a message by email letting us know exactly what you wish to appear on the logo. Don't forget to give us the template name and number when you make the request. If you purchased our template off of our site, please include the order number.

What if my computer crashes, can I get another copy of the template?

We will send you another copy within the first 30 days of purchase. After the 30 days, if the design is still on our website for sale, we will send you one additional copy. If it is not shown in our catalog, we no longer have the template in our files and will not be able to replace it. We highly recommend that you make a backup copy on a floppy disk or CD.

Is the catalog that is shown in the template "active"?

No, the catalog is an example that shows you how a catalog with product pages can be set up. You will have to make your data base for your template. Once again...the catalog is a sample of how you might set up a shopping cart. NO SHOPPING CART IS INCLUDED.

How do I make a new page?

One easy way to create new pages is to use "Save As". All you need to do is:

  1. Open the page you wish to copy.
  2. Click File - Save As
  3. In the "File Name" box, add your new name. Remember, it is best to use all lower case letters. There should be NO spaces between words in the new file name. Make sure you do not erase the .html! You'll need it!
  4. In the "Page Title" box, add your new title just as you want others to see it. You may use spaces and capital letters here.
  5. Click - Save, then add the page to your navigation structure. We usually have the navigation in library items.
What if I don't need all of the pages in a template?

Don't worry about it! You can unlink the pages and keep them in the template, or you can just delete them.

Can I make as many pages as I want for my web?

Absolutely! You are not limited in the number of pages you can make with any of the templates. Just create as many as you need.

Dreamweaver TemplatesFlash/Swish Questions:

Do you use Flash in your templates?

Right now, we use SwishMax as the animated files in our templates. We may use Flash at a later date. If so, we will clearly mark our templates that use Flash or Swish.

What is this SWFObject.js that is in my template?

Your template uses the SWIObject detection and embed script provided by Geoff Stearns at http://blog.deconcept.com/flashobject/. This script detects whether or not the user has the Flash player, and if it does, it loads in the Flash movie for them to view. If they don't have the Flash player, it displays your alternate content. The alternate content is what you see in your web editor (a static image or text). The SWIObject script also resolves the IE update issue where embedded Flash movies require an extra click for interaction; using the script will allow viewers to interact with the Flash movie directly. The SWIObject script also allows your web site to have fully validated HTML. Please be aware that the script may be updated occasionally, and it is your responsibility to visit the SWIObject site to check for updates and implement them.

Can I change the Swish (SWF) file myself?

Sure! Many of our templates include flash/swish files that do not require specific programs to change the wording or the pictures. There is a note in each template letting you know if you can easily change the wording or images without using an extra program. If you must have SwishMax (the program we use to create the swish/flash files) to change the program, we will send you the source files (if they are not already included), so you can modify the file yourself. At this time, SwishMax offers a free download for 15 days for trial use. You can find it at swishzone.com. If you find you cannot edit the file yourself, we will be more than happy to help. Please note the small fee in the Custom Design Center.
